Blood work can sometimes help us understand what may be contributing to your symptoms or identify areas that warrant further investigation.
When clinically appropriate, laboratory testing may include:
- Iron & nutrient status- ferritin, iron studies, vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D
- Thyroid health — TSH and, when indicated, additional thyroid markers
- Blood sugar & metabolic health — fasting glucose, HbA1c and insulin
- Cardiovascular markers — cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides and ApoB
- General health markers — complete blood count (CBC), liver and kidney markers and electrolytes
- Celiac disease screening — appropriate antibody testing when celiac disease is suspected
- Inflammatory markers — such as CRP, when clinically indicated
- Hormonal testing — selected testing based on symptoms, life stage and clinical indication
- Other testing — additional laboratory investigations may be considered depending on your health history and symptoms
Testing isn't about ordering everything for everyone. The goal is to choose tests that are clinically appropriate and that may meaningfully inform your care.
Existing blood work can also be reviewed, so you may not need to repeat testing you have already had.
